Look Out For These 11 Signals You Must Change Your Life

1. Your Days Feel The Same

While I’m not expecting you to jump out of bed every morning feeling excited, it’s not normal to wake up and dread the day ahead every single day.

If it feels like you’re just going through the motions of life, barely surviving but not really living, that’s a strong signal you need to change your life!

Of course, you can’t be happy all the time…but you shouldn’t also be miserable most of the time – don’t you think?

Whether your routine bores you to death or you aren’t happy with your life anymore, this is your sign to do something about it.

You could start “spicing” things up by asking yourself this simple yet powerful question:

“How can I make today special?”

Find something to look forward to each day – that’s a small, yet powerful, change that can help you live in a more fulfilling way.

2. You Feel Stuck

Life is full of ups and downs. That’s just…life.

The problem is when you feel like you’ve been at your lowest for quite a long time. On top of that, you don’t know when, how – or even if – you’ll ever come up.

Here are some signs that you might be stuck in life:

  • You face the same problems and challenges on repeat
  • You’re not as motivated as you were
  • Your goals and achievements feel vain
  • You’re feeling anxious most of the time
  • Your days feel all the same, as they blend into one another

3. You Feel Stressed Out All The Time

Stress isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It can help you grind when you need to meet an upcoming deadline. It can also motivate you to do your best work to meet others’ expectations.

BUT. (Of course, there is a but)

Experiencing stress for prolonged periods is a bad thing. It can negatively impact your mental and physical performance.

Here are some of the most common symptoms stress causes on your body:

  • Sleep problems
  • Headaches
  • Digestive issues
  • Weight gain
  • Muscle tension and pain

So, don’t underestimate if you feel like you’re on the edge all the time

Living in a society that wants us to always be productive and performing, it’s important to recognize the signs your body sends you to slow down.

To live a stress-free life, there are minor changes you can include to your daily routine, such as:

  • Having an active lifestyle
  • Following a balanced diet
  • Making time for your relationships
  • Cultivating your creative hobbies and passions
  • Prioritizing spending time outside

4. You Are Too Comfortable

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” – Neale Donald Walsch

Staying where you are and doing what you know feels safe. That’s why it’s so hard to do something different…

There are 2 simple ways in which you can change your life: either by doing different things or by doing things differently.

What do you choose?

The most important thing is that you don’t settle for “comfort” for too long. Sure, maybe you’re not looking for a major life change – but also small changes can lead to massive (positive) results.

Here are some small challenges you can take to step out of your comfort zone:

  • Try a new sport
  • Go to a new restaurant
  • Read a different genre of books
  • Talk to a stranger
  • Wear something different from your usual style
  • Enroll in a class
  • Take a cold shower
  • Go on a spontaneous trip

5. You Are Always Low On Energy

No matter how many hours of sleep you get, you feel restless. It’s not like experiencing that 3 PM afternoon slump – it’s an all-day thing!

Excluding any physical or mental problems, if you always feel tired it might mean that the life you’re leading is draining you out.

You might be doing a lot of things but if you’re not doing the right things, you’ll have a hard time finding the energy to push through.

For a second, forget about what’s expected of you. Forget about your tasks, roles, and responsibilities.

What is it that you want? What do you enjoy doing? What are the things that set a fire in your heart and soul?
Once you find your answers, you don’t necessarily have to completely overturn your life. You can simply start by doing more of what brings you joy, every day.

6. You Look Back More Than You Look Ahead

Finding yourself often looking at old pictures? Scrolling through your Instagram archive? Or simply feeling nostalgic about the good old times?

When you spend more time looking at what has been rather than what could be, you should take that as a subtle sign that you must change something in your life.

If your past excites you more than your future – and makes you overlook the present -, it means that you were doing something right back then. Something that you’re not doing anymore.

Why did you let go of it? Is there any way you can bring that habit, routine, or activity back into your life?

For example:

  • If you enjoyed writing as a child → Consider starting a journaling practice
  • Did you like coloring? → Buy an adult coloring book
  • Were you always singing and dancing as a kid? → Dance in the morning, before leaving the house

Throughout our lives, we collect clues about what feels right for us and makes us feel good.

Looking at the past, in this case, is beneficial only if you let it teach you what you need in your present – so that you can create a brighter future!

7. Your Life Feels Like A Chore

Work. School. Gym. Groceries. Bills. Cleaning. Cooking. Laundry. Meetings. Appointments.

I get it: adulting is hard! The amount of chores rises, as our free time decreases…

BUT.

If your life feels like a giant chore – like you’re doing everything you have to do, without doing anything you want to do -, it’s time to press on the brake pedal.

There will always be things to do. People to please. Expectations to fulfill. Deadlines to meet.

But, this doesn’t mean that life should lose its spark.

So, take a look at your daily planner or agenda. Is there something, on there, that excites you? If the answer is “no,” you must act now (before it’s too late)!

8. You Compare Yourself Too Much

It’s so easy to fall into the comparison trap…

Social media make it effortless to compare our lowest points in life with others’ highlights. The result? We feel like:

  • We’re never doing enough
  • Our life is never good enough
  • We’re never enough

This is your sign to stop spending most of your days looking at what others are doing rather than doing something yourself!

Be the creator of your dream life rather than the watcher of somebody else’s.

9. You Cannot Think Of The Last Time You Were Truly Happy

Let me ask you a question:

“When was the last time you felt truly happy?”

Hopefully, you can find an answer to this question rapidly.

If that’s not the case, then it’s another signal that you must make a change in your life.

While it’s highly unrealistic to feel happy and excited all the time, you should easily recall some times when you felt joyful and lighthearted.

Remember that only you can make the right changes to your life.

Only you know what makes you happy.

And it is only you that can start doing more – or more often – those things that bring you joy.

So, grab a paper and a pen and start jotting down all the activities, places, things, and people that bring happiness into your life. That list is the secret to a happier you!

10. Your Body Feels Something Is “Off”

Your body is smarter than you think…

That’s why, if you’ve been feeling like something is “off” for some time now, it’s time for you to listen.

Your body knows what’s been going on before your mind can even realize it.

Some signals that your body might have been sending you are:

  • A sudden change in appetite
  • Irritability and mood changes
  • Muscle tension
  • Frequent headaches
  • Low energy levels

If these symptoms manifest for a prolonged period, then it’s a way for your body to warn you that something in your life needs to change.

11. You Cannot Stay Grounded In The Present Moment

Finally, the last signal you must change something in your life is when you can’t stay grounded in the present moment.

If you feel like your mind is constantly somewhere else, it means you’re not living a life that feels aligned with you.

Of course, there will always be a next goal you’ll want to achieve, or a milestone you’ll want to reach. But, if that prevents you from embracing the beauty and abundance of what you already have, then you must change something.

What can you do? You could start by being more grateful, for example.

It’s a simple yet powerful mindset shift that will allow you to connect deeper with the present moment.
